No matter how old we are, we still idolize sports

It’s a funny thing growing up as a kid, idolizing sports.

You end up in your driveway at midnight, down a basket with the imaginary clock running down.

You’re Michael Jordan. Or, in my case, Chris Mullin (right).

I was always kind of realistic as a kid. If you can call being Chris Mullin realistic. I’m not even left handed.

Logan's 800 relay three-peats at state

Despite being the two-time defending state champions, the Logan High School girls 800-meter relay team was not the favorite heading into the Division 1 WIAA State Track and Field meet.

Then Friday happened and the doubt began to fade. Saturday, they let everyone know there should never have been doubt.

They’ve run against each other time and time again. Friday, they both qualified for the state championship.

And today will be the last time the Logan and Central high school girls 400-meter relay teams go at it, at the WIAA Division 1 State Track and Field Championships, which begin at 10:30 a.m.

WIAA State Track and Field Championships

The WIAA State Track and Field championships get underway today.

The meet starts with Division 1 at 9:30 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Field at UW-L. Divisions 2 and 3 start at 3:30 p.m.

Investor Chris Hansen says he remains committed to getting the NBA back to Seattle even though he just lost one of his biggest partners in the process.  

That investor was Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, who just bought the Clippers for $2 billion.

Loggers win marathon game

It all came down to a wild pitch.

Four hours and 28 minutes, and 15 innings later, the La Crosse Loggers defeated the Wisconsin Woodchucks 3-2 at Copeland Park when Jerrod Bravo scored on a wild pitch.

Holmen grads lead Loggers in opener

The only thing missing from Opening Day for the La Crosse Loggers on Tuesday was the sun.

That shouldn’t be a problem at 7 p.m. tonight against the Wisconsin Woodchucks at Copeland Park and then will be back in town again for two against Green Bay on Saturday (6 p.m.) and Sunday (7 p.m.).
