Coming out of high school, Evan Anderson was a five-star recruit.

He was the 16th-ranked center on Scouts.com out of Eau Claire North High School. The top of that list at center includes the NBA's Enes Kanter, Jared Sullinger, Fab Melo and Meyers Leonard.

Bring on the Warhawks, UW-L moves into 2nd round

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men’s basketball team never trailed. It led by as many as 18 points. It withstood a surge. Then the Eagles put UW-Oshkosh away.

Third-seeded UW-L took down the No. 6 Titans 76-61 in the first round of the WIAC tournament on Wednesday at Mitchell Hall. The Eagles will now head to UW-Whitewater for a 7 p.m. tip Friday. The Warhawks are both the No. 2 seed and the No. 2 team in all of Division III.

The two teams split the regular-season series, winning 88-83 at home on Jan. 22, before losing 63-45 on Feb. 12.

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse’s men’s basketball team has never been the WIAC tournament champions.

The road to an automatic bid in the NCAA Division 3 tournament starts at 7 p.m. tonight, when the third-seeded Eagles host No. 6 UW-Oshkosh at Mitchell Hall.
