The WFCA 2013 All-State football team

The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association has announced it's 2013 All-State football team. Congrats to two locals for making it! Greg Rooney of Holmen and Lamont Murphy of La Crosse Central. 
 
Honorable Mention goes to Hunter Hauser of Holmen, Calvin Wright of La Crosse Logan, Noah Risch of Holmen, Chuck Serayskas of Holmen, and Greg Rooney of Holmen. Rooney made the list playing two positions ... linebacker and punter. Congratulations to these fine student athletes.

WIAA FB: Logan needs to stop the QB

A game from state, in territory the Logan High School has never been in before, and all that exudes from its football team is confidence.

At 7 p.m. tonight, the 10-2 Rangers head to Baraboo High School to take undefeated and top-seeded Monona Grove in the WIAA Division 3 semifinals. Pregame with Mike Kearns and Scott Erickson begins at 6:45 p.m. on AM 580. Click the link to the left to watch or listen to live streaming of the game.

Logan takes on future Badger tonight

He’s 6-foot-7, 300 pounds. He’s going to the University of Wisconsin next year to play football.

He’s led Monona Grove High School to a game from the state championship, plowing the way for three backs with a combined 2,498-yards rushing and 35 touchdowns this season.

Undefeated vs. undefeated. No. 1 vs. No. 2. Offense vs. defense.

The third round of the WIAA Division 2 playoffs features two teams that have gotten here by different means.

Oshkosh North and its read-option offense vs. Holmen and its 3-4 defense. The two teams kickoff at 4 p.m. Saturday at Titan Stadium in Oshkosh, Wis.
