It’s a funny competition to watch. One that might make one very curious as to just how hard it is.

Log rolling. You can watch it in Onalaska on Saturday.

The Ninth Annual Three Rivers Roleo will begin at 11 a.m. at the Great River Landing on the Black River – an event that will be televised on Fox Sports Wisconsin and Fox Sports North.

Nearly 70 will compete including the Top 8 ranked women in the world – some of whom have been world champions. Forty-two amateur log rollers will take part, perhaps even some who have practiced log rolling at the La Crosse YMCA (a program that takes place Tuesdays and Fridays in the pool).

The concept is fairly simple. Two competitors balance on each end of the log. They can’t cross the center. And they can’t touch each other. Everything else, however, is pretty much fair game, including kicking water on your opponent – just make sure you don’t fall in.

According to executive director Katie Ricks, the event has grown every year.
