Minnesota must make three more cuts by Tuesday

MINNEAPOLIS – The Minnesota Vikings released 11 players from the roster Sunday, including two wide receivers, in the first wave of cut downs in the NFL.

Not among those cuts to get the roster down to 75 was Caledonia, Minn., native, Isaac Fruechte, who was signed May 11 as an undrafted free agent.

Minnesota will make three more cuts by Tuesday’s 3 p.m. deadline. The final 53-man roster must be set by 3 p.m. Sept. 5.

The two wide receivers released among the 11 cuts Sunday for the Vikings were DaVaris Daniels and Jordan Leslie.

So far this preseason, Fruechte has three receptions for 28 yards (12-yard long). Daniels had one catch for six yards, while Leslie didn’t make a reception.

Fruechte had 17 catches, 292 yards (16.2 avg.) and one touchdown his senior season at the University of Minnesota.

In his final season at Notre Dame, Daniels had 49 receptions for 745 yards with seven touchdowns. Leslie, a senior at BYU last season, finished with 55 grabs for 779 yards and six touchdowns.

The 6-foot-3, 202-pound Fruechte is one of two Caledonia High School alum currently on NFL rosters. Karl Klug, a 2006 graduate who went to Iowa, is in his sixth season with the Tennessee Titans.
