Packers fans: “But baby it’s cold outside”

Well, they’re showing their true colors again.

Green and Gold? No, black. As in, blackout.

Green Bay Packers fans don’t want to sit in the cold and watch their team. You know, the “best fans in the league.”

The extension to sell out Sunday’s playoff game against the visiting San Francisco 49ers has been extended to 4 p.m. Friday.

Green Bay still has 3,000 tickets to sell. If not, a tv blackout.

The Packers: the team with over 100,000 people on the season-ticket waiting list.

The Packers: the team with 319 consecutive sellouts (301 regular-season games and 18 in the playoffs).

The Packers: whose fans booed them off the field at halftime two weeks ago, only to watch them come back and win.

Why aren’t they selling out?

Because it’ll be cold? The weather should be zero degrees. Aren’t Green Bay fans used to that? Isn’t that part of the aura of watching a game at Lamebeau Field?

Is it the price? The cheapest tickets on Ticket Master are $111.75 and you can buy four next to each other right now for $447.00. Then there’s parking, which can run anywhere from $10 (miles away) to $30 in the stadium lot.

Or is it because the 49ers are going to wipe the floor with the Packers? They did it last year in the regular season and the playoffs and once again this year.

OK, they didn’t wipe the floor, but Anquan Boldin had 13 catches for 208 yards last time. Then he went 16 weeks without getting even 100 yards before last week’s finale.

The ever-so-loyal Green Bay fans are showing their true loyalty leading up to this game.

If they don’t sell out by 4 p.m. Friday, the game will be blacked out on local televions.

That won’t happen, but it certainly is an oddity it has come to that.

The Seahawks sold out their game in 30 minutes, and they don’t even know who they’re playing yet and it will probably be raining in Seattle.
