UW-L fights back, closes out Viterbo

UW-La Crosse men’s basketball team made it 10 consecutive over the crosstown rivals Monday night.

Four players scored in double figures for the Eagles led by Calahan Skogman’s 15 points. He added nine rebounds in the 68-59 win over Viterbo at Beggs Gymnasium.

UW-L now leads the all-time series 16-9.

It was tied 33-33 at halftime and Viterbo (5-3) had a 58-52 lead with 7:30 remaining before the Eagles (4-1) stormed back.

UW-L took the lead with three consecutive 3-pointers – one by Skogman, the next two by Tice Braden.

Those came as part of a 16-1 run that closed out the game – the first 13 of those points unanswered.

UW-L held Viterbo to just 42-percent shooting in the second half. The V-Hawks also hit just 9 of 17 free throws in the half.

And that’s the only real difference – the ball going through the basket.
