La Crosse Opener A Thrilling Ride!

King Of The Short Tracks. Steve Carlson. Another Saturday night win. I wonder if sports writers that cover racing, save their articles from past Carlson wins and just rearrange the words. Why would they do that you ask? Because he wins so much.

Without a doubt, Carlson is widely regarded as one of the best Midwestern asphalt racers of all-time, a fact strengthened by nine championships in the defunct ARTGO/NASCAR Midwest Series (the sanctioning bodies changed in 1998, but series records count both ARTGO and NASCAR statistics) and the National Championship in the Whelen All-American Series in 2007. La Crosse has been his home track throughout his career, and Carlson won title there in various forms of competition during the 1978, 1979, 1982, 1984, 2007 and 2008. Could 2013 be his next? Ask some at the La Crosse Speedway and they would tell you yes, among 5 or 6 names.  IN 2013, Carlson already has a feature win and a top 3 finish. 2013.......Late Model Champ? We will see.
